Whitney's Story
Hey all you Midland peeps! Dave McMahan is my husband. He graduated from Michigan Tech and then moved to Sunnyvale CA to work with Lockheed. Is an embedded software engineer currently working with Sony Ericsson in RTP Raleigh NC. Anything you might want to say to him, I will forward!
Life
It's good to see so many more of your names listed in Classmates. I've pretty much settled down into the wife and mother routine. After high school I went to Michigan State University. Never graduated. Partied too much, wasn't focused and didn't know how to study. Could skate by in high school without studying too much and it really hurt in college.
I lived in Toledo for a while, moved back to East Lansing and then to San Francisco. I lived through the Loma Prieta earthquake. Married and moved to San Jose. After the two children were born our house was too small, so we moved into a bigger house...in Raleigh, North Carolina. Plan on staying here until "they put us in a home". Would love to hear snippets of your life!
School
Ok some bizzare recollections from Dogfish!
Who could ever forget Jeff Janssens? I stalked that poor kid. What a 12 year old moron I was. BUT I WAS ONLY TWELVE! I'd handle that so differently now. But hey, who could be blame me? He had that tousled curly blonde hair, awesome blue eyes and those slightly bowed legs and he looked great in his wrestling singlet. And he was charismatic. The first time I ever drove a stick was when Laura called me on July 5th 1982. I remember going to Troy Miller's house and all of Jeff's friends gathered around. Even though I didn't belong in that circle, well that day I was accepted. When ever I am in Michigan, I stop by to talk to him and leave him flowers.
Dundee has lost way too many kids to cars and trains.
Band. Mr. Gourley. Unless you were a band geek you'd not understand. Alexander's Ragtime Band and kicking the crap out of Ida Sucks marching band. Band camp at MSU. Tracy as our drum major. Adapus ruined our senior year. Solo and Ensemble with Annette Prajzner and Rachel and Teresa Bates borrowing Brenda's car when we were only 13 or 14. Florida marching in Disney World.
Picking up guys with Rach. She was the bait and remarkably I usually ended up with the cute one, but then she went to every prom and I never did. Dogfish again......Expand for more
but I prefer Wango. Thanks for that one Dave. You know Rach was Rango Bango, Dawn was Dango Bango, Judy was Jango Rango...me Wango Bango.
Smalley and Rowe's parties. Trying to smoke corn husks...muaahaahaaa. That awesome basketball team and Steve dominating wrestling. Looks like his boys aren't too shabby either. Feathered hair...who came up with this "mullet" crap. We never ever called that cut a mullet.
AC/DC, Journey, the Stones, The Kinks, Tom Petty, Aerosmith, REO Speedwagon, ELO, STYX, Billy Squire, The Knack. I WANT MY MTV!
Not many of you know that I walked in on Mr. Beck in his tighty whities in 8th grade. I was so devistatingly embarrased. My eyes burned!
Mrs. Burkart. I wish I had actually learned some algebra!
Swim team with Coach. I know he loved his boys more, but we loved him more. Jaymee Fojtik...why'd she abandon us to St. Mary's? Sue James and going for the "C" and staying away from Diary Queen and swimming in the sickies and gimpies lane. Rich Knowles as assistant coach and going to his apartment. Lisa Gossard aka Lisa Haver Wain feeding us and letting us change every Friday at her house during swim season because it was also marching band season. Sue Geiman...blind as blind in the water and too much fun in driver's ed.
Dressing as a hooker for Senior halloween. Teachers thought I was supposed to be a movie star! Rach of course was God's Gift...those were my green fuzzy slippers.
Squeeze Parkay...need I say more? Dead cats found on Bigelow and ended up in town. Stinky.
