Brad's Story

Although I did not actually attend Jackson High School, I have joined classmates to find friends and students I attended Multnomah Grade School with from 1956 to Grade 8 in 1964. My family moved to Brisbane Australia in February 1964, Brisbane was the birthplace of my Mother. Dad was stationed in Australia in WW II with General Douglas MacArthur, First in Melbourne then Brisbane where he and my mother met at a dance one night. They married 3 months later and after the war my mother joined thousands of other Australia War Brides who travelled by ship to the USA. I have very fond memories of growing up in Multnomah, Portland Oregon. And of the many school friends and friends I grew up with. Including The local Boy Scout Group who met at Multnomah Grade School and before that The Cub Scouts and before that The Braces I think. I often used to hang around Ed's camera Corner store in Multnomah. Elsie's diner. The Dime store. The Swiss Bakery. and the Parks and Woods around Multnomah. Alpinerose Dairy Farm, where I played Little League Baseball, Raced my 10 speed Peugeot racing Bike I imported from France in 1963 around the dirt bike track the established and one first place.. I stood in John Lennon’s Bedroom at his Aunt Mimi's Home in Liverpool las...Expand for more
t year, where he, Paul and George and the others used to practice and write songs............... The Home is owned by the British National Trust. Yoko Ono purchased the home and donated it to the National Trust along with additional funds to have it returned to the 50's inside and out. His song " In My Life" has always reminded me of my childhood in Multnomah. I saw the Beatles live in Brisbane Australia in July 1964. Was so inspired, I bought a guitar the following week and taught myself to play. Formed bands and still play. There are places I'll remember All my life, though some have changed Some forever, not for better Some have gone and some remain All these places had their moments With lovers and friends, I still can recall Some are dead and some are living In my life, I've loved them all But of all these friends and lovers There is no one compares with you And these memories lose their meaning When I think of love as something new Though I know I'll never lose affection For people and things that went before I know I'll often stop and think about them In my life, I'll love you more Though I know I'll never lose affection For people and things that went before I know I'll often stop and think about them In my life, I'll love you more
