Life While working full time, I finally completed my undergraduate degree in 1988 which coincided with the birth of my son. Following graduation, I went to work for the local newspaper, Contra Costa Times in their accounting department, and then moved down to Monterey County to work for a small credit card operation. Following 8 sucessful years at Household International, I was offered the opportunity to manage my own accounting department at a start up credit card operation in Baltimore, Maryland. The tribe moved out in 1997 and we moved into a brand new 3000 square foot home with 1/2 acre of land. We later had an inground pool built and finished off our basement to resemble a gymnasium. But, after three years, this company was sold to a rival credit card issuer. I then went to work for Citigroup, first managing a staff of 10 accountants and then spearheading a Peoplesoft general ledger conversion and rewriting software code. As luck would have it, Household asked me to return to California in 2004 and it turned out to be the best career move of my life. The biggest benefit coming from my children being reunited with their cousins and my wife with her parents and siblings. I was recently promoted and now feel that my future and finances are set.
