Braden's Story
Life
I now live in Charlotte, NC. I lived in a suburb of Omaha, Nebraska for 8 years where I owned my own house (which I completely remodeled). I am single and don't have any kids, but I do have a great group of friends and a loving dog named Gryphon! I still enjoy working on computers, which has been shown thru my choice of undergrad degree among other things. I left the Air Force in 2006 when my enlistment was over and moved to Charlotte on a hope and a prayer. One thing that is absolutely clear - I will NEVER return to Dallas City, Illinois (or the surrounding area). While this may break my mother's heart, I'm sure many of you can understand my distaste for the town and its people.
School
I went to High School in a small town of around 1000 people in Dallas City, Illinois. In what I can only describe as a bittersweet event, the High School I attended was shuttered after the 2000 school year. Although I will always feel a certain connection with that school and its teachers, let's be serious here people - Dallas City High School was hell for me. Aside from the fact that I had an awesome job that paid more than many of my classmates make even now ($12.50/hr as a HS senior is beyond what many can dream ...Expand for more
of), I wouldn't go back to high school even if you paid me. Small town life is for the birds, and I have a very low regard for the people I went to High School with. My life is very different now, and many of their lives aren't. I am thankful that my High School days made me a very strong person, with a very low tolerance for other people's BS. It's going to help me go far in life. But I wouldn't wish my HS life on anyone.
College
Completed A.A.S. in Avionics Systems Technology thru the Community College of the Air Force in 2002. Subsequently enrolled in the B.S. Business Information Systems course thru Bellevue University, completed in 2003. Currently pursuing M.A. in Management thru Bellevue University, projected completion June 2006.
Workplace
I worked for Jim Baier Inc. in High School as a computer consultant, making $12.50/hour. Not bad for a 17 year old from a small town in Illinois. However, as you may or may not know, I joined the Air Force right after High School, and have been in for almost 7 years. Right now I'm working to find the career path that will be right for me once my Air Force days are over. I will keep this updated with what I decide.
