Bradley's Story

Life Was Married for 21 years 2 very attractive kids (both served in military). Nine months in Iraq, training former enemies (never were a threat),this country has a long way to go to ever be peaceful. Still in National Guard have put in for retirement at age 60. Get by in German, Arabic fairly well. Enjoyed 35 year reunion. Have a very sweet lady finally. School Started out at St. Francis de Sales Elementary School until moving to Boys school, left after 9th grade. Algebra kept me in 9th grade for second year, Houma Jr. High and moved on to Terrebonne High School junior year, skipped Sophmore year (ha). Then to Senior year. Graduated 1968. Had some good friends and good teachers along the way. College Attended several civilian colleges as well as Army college level courses. Hoping to return enjoy learning.Nicholls due to its location has been where I have spent my time to obtain a BA in General Studies and ROTC commission in Army. Then returned to try Nursing, may try again. University of Alabama- Huntsville was nice but expensive. Last party central University of Louisiana- Lafayette, suppose to make me mature and become more socially aware, actually made a fool of myself and did not do that much partying, never knew how much one was suppose to do. e. Prior to this working in foreign countries has been the most rewarding even though they are war zones it still gives you a chance to meet the people. Military Began with US Army January 1969, trained as a medic, mostly Hospital time and dispensary, Ft. Knox KY, Nurenburg, and Illisheim, Germany. Discharged 1971, 1974 Joined the US Navy trained as Hospital Corpsmen, Fleet Marines Okinawa, Third Marine Division, Medical Battalion, 1st Bn, 4th Marines, 3Bn,4th Marines, participated Operations Eagle Pull and supported Frequent Wind, wind followed by 6 months in South China Sea fishing for boat people. 1981 commissioned 2LT Infantry, Korea, Ft. Polk, Ft. Benning schools did jump school as Rotc and three times tried Ranger School kept hurting myself. Then Germany realized Infantry was no longer an option. Excelled as a logistician,maintenance company commander and Headquarters company commander. Rotc staff not really fun but nice people to work with. Traveled to over 45 colleges in 2 years. Passed over and they passed me out after 16 years. Joined Louisiana Army National Guard at age 49 and once again felt like I have been serving in a foreign army. Three years with Saudi Strategic Services Medical Support for Infantry Brigade. Now training new Iraqi Army in Kirkush,Iraq need the money and the last hoorah,then somehow find more peaceful pursuits. Returned to LAARNG did duty during Katrina at local shelters.
