Bradley's Story

Life---As of October 2nd 2008, I have downhill skiied 110 months in a row. This is downhill skiing at least one day each month year round. My goal is 120 months in a row ( 10 years straight ). Check out the web site, turnsallyear.com We are rapidly losing our glaciers, we lost the Bend glacier 2 years ago, and this skiing every month is proving to be a challange. Palmer glacier on MT Hood is in grave danger. I just climbed Mt. Hood on the exact same date as I did 12 years ago. We had a heavy snow year, but the receding on the snowfields and glaciers are tremendous. There are no pearly gates to hike up anymore. You have to ice axe up the headwall now. My Pets Bella is our golden retriever..a girl. She is 2 years old. We lost Flash in April 06 to liver cancer. I DJ on a local public radio station, KRVM-FM hosting "Breakfast with the Blues" on Saturday morning from 5:30 - 9:00 pacific time AM.I'm "Brad the Broken Down Old Man. Half of my show is blues from the 20's -40's.Lots of fun and great benefits when it comes to concerts and aquiring music. Thats 8:30- 12:00 Eastern time. The radio gig is something I always wanted to do and helps relieve my mind from the hectic schedule of my business....it allows me to escape...so to say.krvm.org Getting excited about this coming up ski season. Hopefully, big dumps.. Kellie and I have been together over 9 years. She is native of Eugene and a hell of a skier. (We met skiing) Scuba this past summer was so-so due to the dead zone off the Oregon coast. They are possibly linking this to global warming. For those of you who were at the 25th reunion, it was so wonderful to see all of you. I am already looking forward to the 30th. Kellie and I are talking about Florida for the 30th reunion. I want to take her to Crystal River to swim with the manatees. We are set up for after the reunion to sail down to the Dry Tortugas for a week. My business has been expanding every year and we just celebrated our 12th year in business. We are Huckleberry Fence and Deck. Like many of you, my life is a typical routine, day in and day out except for play. December 2005, I went to Maui to dive for 10 days and hooked up with our old classmate friend Alex Aguerra. Life is great ...Expand for more
for Alex and his family. I will attempt to get him to come for our 30th. His parents still live in St Pete Beach so that gives him another excuse for him and the family to come. Alex lives just outside of Paia. Just went to Kauai in December 07 and hiked the Kalalau Trail. The most beautiful hike I have ever done. Google it to check out the scenery. School High school was not my happiest memory of my childhood. In fact, I despised it. I had very few friends and was not popular or in the (popular crowd). Most my friends were one class ahead or one class behind me. My home life wasn't too stable either with my parents seperating and finally divorcing and not feeling accepted in school, my best friend Nancy Turner moving to Texas, and I couldn't build anything in wood shop because the bullys would steal all my wood. So I would do peoples math homework for joints. The shop instructor gave me an "F" even though it wasn't my fault. I didn't smoke grass back then so I would give it to my friends. One day I tried it and suddenly I found friends with similar problems as me.Within 6 months, I was addicted to cocaine for the next 2 years and I subsequently dropped out of school in the middle of 12th grade for any of you who ever wondered. My memories of Clearwater and school are not pleasant but going back to my class reunion gives me the feeling of closure. I staightened out somewhat and went to St Pete JC to study architecture but in my sophmore year suffered a horrific knee injury that left me unable to walk for almost a year. I felt jinxed and was lonely for real friends. I decided to start life over and moved out to Eugene Oregon where I couldn't be happier. Eugene is a wonderful enviornment to grow old around. I know this letter can sound harsh on my fellow classmates but as I have touch based with other in our class, I have found similar comments from others..not feeling accepted. Looking back ,I wish the knowledge we hold now could have been utilized back then. Even though my memories of high school are ones I rarely reflect on I only wish everyone the best and hopefully we ALL have learned from these mistakes and can pass on our experiences and wisdom to our children and future generations.
