Terri's Story
Life
Updated January 2, 2009
I started school at Gardner Street (Hollywood) in 1966. I transferred to Wonderland Avenue (Laurel Canyon) in the middle of 3rd grade and graduated 1973. I went to Bancroft Junior High (Hollywood) through 9th grade. I went to Birmingham High (Van Nuys) 10th & 11th and transferred to Camelback High (Phoenix, Arizona) my senior year.
I got married at 18 (1980) to my first husband and we have a daughter Danielle, who is now 33 years old and is going to have a baby in November. I divorced my husband in June of 83 and married my current husband in November of 83. We have 2 children together, Stephanie 30 (my special blessing from God. Stephanie has Down syndrome and has grown to be a very beautiful and intelligent young woman) and Jonathan 29. Check out our family picture posted as my NOW photo.
I have been a waitress, a baker, and a mainstreaming specialist (working with children who are mentally & physically challenged and helping them to fit in with peers their own age).
I was the Area Coordinator for our local Special Olympics for 9 years and I now volunteer for the Boys & Girls Club.
I have my own floor covering store in Prescott Valley, Arizona.
As of November 10th, 2004, I am a grandmother to Emma Alayne. A beautiful baby girl. Born to Danielle now 33 years old and her husband, Jebediah.
I am the proud grandma to Brody Richard Brahm born in May 2014.
I have come a long way in my life and anyone who knew me during my school years would probably be shocked as to how my life turned out. I was very wild as a teenager and partied every day.
This is my family history:
My father, Uri Hanauer was born in Berlin on Feb. 6, 1940, he past away on
December 5, 1981. I knew nothing about his life in Germany until after his
death. And the information I received from my living relatives was very
vague. All of my family members who did survive the holocaust are now all
deceased.
My great grandfather, Jonas Rosenfeld dates of his arrest in Berlin during the holocaust:
Dec. 13, 1942 until Jan. 26, 1943, Hbgstr. (not legible)
Feb. 27, 1943 until March 8, 194...Expand for more
3, Rosenstr.
Aug. 21, 1944 until Sept. 8, 1944 Schulstr.
My grandfather Hans Heinz Hanauer and grandmother Ursula Hanauer nee
Rosenfeld both had 2 Jewish grandparents and 2 Christian grandparents. They
were considered "Mischling in the 2nd degree" or "half-bred".
I have documentation that my grandfather Hans was warned by Max Schrader
who was with the Underground SDP (banned Social Democrat Party) that there
was a warrant for his arrest. The Underground SDP was an organization of
people belonging to the Adolf Koch Institute circle. The Institute was a
school for gymnastics with Alpine sun and healthiness consultation. Some of
these people had remained with the police at the request of the Underground
SDP. They worked in the so-called Card Index where Aryans and Jews were
registered. In this position, they had the opportunity to alter cards to
Aryanize. My grandfather did not take the warrant seriously and left his
hiding place.
My grandmother and father, Uri (then 14 months old) were at the train
station to see my grandfather leave to go to Winkel Estate, Spreenhagen on
March 3, 1941. My father did not want to leave his father. A soldier told
my grandmother to hold him so he would not run to the train. It was while
my grandfather sat on the train that he wrote my grandmother a note. Ester
Binder signed and delivered the note to my grandmother. She was the wife of
one of the soldiers on the train. I have this note. It is a reflection of
what he was feeling at that moment.

in Umschulungsbetrieb Gut Winkel (Gut Winkel Training Center

On June 10, 2008, I closed my business due to our economy. So sad.
I am now working as an assistant for a friend. Waiting for my boat to come in.
