Brenda's Story

I attended Concord Elementary School, Troy Jr. High and Troy High School. I decided to move to Dayton and live with my mom where I went to Stebbins High School my senior year (pretty dumb, huh when I went to Troy my whole life!). I went to school part-time and worked part-time at the Mad River Fire Dept. as their secretary. Then I met David Schatz, got married and had my oldest son, Nate in 1983. We divorced in 1985 and I moved to Terre Haute, Indiana and Nate & I lived with my mom. I married Billy Thornton in 1988 and had our son, Josh. Then we had our son, Matt in 1990 and we moved back to Troy so we could "reconnect" with our families. Unfortunately, his parents got divorced after 30 years of marriage; my grandpa Coy passed away in 1999 and Bill's dad passed away in 2000. We then decided to get out of Troy and we moved to the country, which is the best thing we could have ever done. Unfortunately, Bill's sister, Carla, passed away in 2005 and my dad passed away this year, so we've had our share of losing special people in our li...Expand for more

My mother passed away in 2014 (shattered my heart and I've never been the same ever since - heartbroken beyond belief; then 6 months later my grandma mayer passed away and then my stepmom Tina passed away also, then grandpa mayer and my grandma jeri passed away in 2015. Quite a huge loss all at once for me and very hard to deal with. I have 7 grandchildren; Preston; Carter and Victoria; Jenna and Gracie and Bellamy and Zaiden. Bill & I got divorced after 30 years of marriage in 2018 and now I have met the best, kindest, most caring man who I married in November 2021 - John Heffner. I really didn't know life with someone who really cares and when you have so much in common with is supposed to be this fun and happy! I knew John when he was younger because i used to hang out with his sister, Debbie and we would always tell him to go home because he was younger than us, but now look at us!! It's fate and it's meant to be and I couldn't be any happier in my life right now!! Enough of me, I think I've written a novel! Take Care.
