Brenda's Story
Life
Who would guess that after all these years, I'm still a "South Tampa gal!" I currently live less than a mile from where I grew up and love that part of town.
Still single, though I stay busy with work and other committments.
College
Like many others back in the day, I took a year or two off after high school before doing the college thing. One year turned into 25, but I started working on my graphic design degree on a part time basis a few years ago. Work interferes with school, but I'll get there....eventually!
Workplace
After spending many years in the photography business, including 10+ years at Bryn-Alan Studios, I made a career change and did a couple of years in the non-profit arena working at the educational access channel in Tampa.
For the past 9 years, I've been in the advertising business, focusing on ...Expand for more
recruitment advertising and working with clients like Coca-Cola, Dollar Tree and many others hire top talent. The company I work for is one of the largest ad agencies of their type in the world, and is family-owned. They have a great corporate culture and are very philanthropic and community-focused, which makes the long work weeks a little more enjoyable.
I also work part-time at the coolest job in town---as a House Manager for Tampa Theatre, the area's 80-year old historic movie palace. As workplaces go, you just can't beat the ambiance! And the theatre is home to some great concerts and special events. I started out as a volunteer there years ago, and now am in management.
So I tell everyone I work one job to pay the bills, and one job to feed the creative soul. Doesn't leave time for much else, but I enjoy the hectic pace!
