Brenda's Story

Another update to my story...I retired after 38 years of teaching in May, 2014. I had planned to teach one more year, but my daughter had another little girl, Ellie Grace, born April 17' 2014...so, now babysitting three days a week for our beautiful granddaughters. It certainly keeps me busy!
April 2013
An update to my story...I am now a "Grammy!" My daughter, Courtney, had a baby girl who was born on my birthday last year on April 26th. Best present ever...her name is Madelyn, and she is perfect. We will be celebrating our birthdays soon.
After graduating from Reavis in 1970 I went to Memphis State University, and I graduated in December, 1973 with a degree in Special E...Expand for more
ducation. I have been teaching ever since. My sister who graduated just one year after me passed away in 1977; she had cancer. That was really a difficult time for our family.
I got married in 1974 and we celebrated our 36th anniversary this summer. We have two kids...Cameron (30) who is an EMT and a daughter, Courtney, (27) who is a 5th grade teacher. Her husband is also a teacher (high school math).
I plan to teach for four more years; I'm still going to school, too. I have my masters degree and am working toward getting my +30 hours before retirement. I enjoy traveling (my daughter and I went on a cruise this summer), reading, photography, and spending time with family and friends.
