Brenda's Story
Life
After working in Omaha, NE and Peoria, IL, I now work part-time at University of Iowa Healthcare as a Child Life Specialist helping pediatric patients adjust to being in the hospital. I was recently asked to join a research team studying the use of distraction techniques to help pediatric patients during painful procedures. I am looking forward to working with a great group of researchers. I live in North Liberty, IA. Scott, my husband, spent 10 years in the Airforce, and now works in Iowa City, IA. m! My mom and brother, Brian, both live in the area. I enjoy being able to see my niece,Avery-3 yo, and nephew, Jalen 7 yo often.
In my free time (if there's much of that with two littles ones :) ) I like to draw and paint, and ocassionally dabble in photography.
College
While attending University of Iowa, I was very active in the Kiwanis based service group - Circle K. I was president of the U of I's club for a while, and sat on the Nebraska-Iowa district board. I enjoyed travelling to several international conventions. I met some pretty amazing people during my experience!
