Brenda's Story
Life
Worked 7 years after high school then joined the Navy to "see the world" and spent 12 yrs doing it. Most memorable were the 3yrs I spent living in Spain...that was THE time of my life and a dream come true. I left the Navy to follow another dream of becoming a Registered Nurse and have worked full time since graduating fm Nursing school in 1997. After travel nursing for a year I settled in Loudoun County Va close to family and havebeen employed at our Hospital Center for the last 4 years. I am currently considering furthering my eduation in forensic criminal justice.
Military
I enlisted in the Navy in 1980 and was assigned to the Uss Mckee AS-41 as a RMSN...Expand for more
plankowner. I left there a RM2, went to "C" school and on to what would become the best three yrs of my life at NAVCOMMSTA Rota Spain. A few yrs in Wash, DC was more than enough and I ended up on another Subtender in Norfolk Va which was a far cry from The Mckee in San Diego. I decided to get out in '92 to go to nursing school and here I am in northern Va. When I used to come home on leave I vowed I'd never live this far fm the ocean. I left Va Beach 4 yrs ago and have regretted it ever since. If I wasnt too old now, I'd probably go back in the Navy to start a new adventure! I have to say that in my case, those WERE the days! Oh yeah, I did make RM1 before leaving.
