Brenda's Story
I attended Woodlawn for my senior year as a transfer from North Little Rock. In January '67, Woodlawn became my first teaching assignment. I then taught business subjects at Norview High School '68-'70 in Norfolk, VA where my husband, Wayne Tabor, was an officer in the Navy. We returned to Shreveport the summer of '70 and I taught at Southwood for two years before spending a year at Greenwood. Wayne and I divorced and my daughter and I moved to Chicago. I gave up teaching to become a cog in the corporate wheel. The next twenty years (gee, does that make me feel OLD.) were uneventful and then I married Bill Wilson in 1993. rked as an engineering assistant for Underwriters' Lab in Camas, WA and made some of the dearest friends who have really helped me since Bill's death. Bill's company brought him back to Richmond in 2000 and we bought our dream house and settled down in Chester until his untimely death. I became a widow, unemployed and basically unstable in 2008. That has made 2009 a year of dramatic changes. I am now living in Savannah after buying a house with my younger brother and trying to get through my second Christmas without Bill. I look forward to 2010 with the promised visit of Dianne Fenton Taylor and Ken Taylor, both from the class of '63. I look forward to hearing not only from classmates but also any past students who may read this.
