I spent most of my childhood and adolescence as a bit of an outsider. I believe that the most common denomenator in my yearbook signings from high school and college centered around the idea that I was a unique individual who no one felt that they knew well. I suppose that I'm still a unique individual. I don't believe in trying to be someone else, it just doesn't work out.
I'm currently working in some of the area schools with kids who are also outsiders either through personal inclinition or environmental issues beyond their control (a fact that I find very amusing). I hope that in my work with these kids, I can help them to find a balance between who they are, who they could be and who society will accept.".
