Brent's Story
Hi Everyone,
I am not sure how everyone remembered me in high school. All I know is that for me, life didn't begin until after I graduated from Windsor High School. After I graduated high school, I got married at the ripe old age of 18 years old and joined the Army (Jun 15th 1988). I went to basic training and Advanced Initial Training at Fort Sill Okla. to become a Surveyor for the Artillery.
I got my first permanent duty station at Fort Sill Okla. in Alpha Battery 3/18th FA. While I was stationed at Fort Sill, my first son (Matthew) was born July 16th 1989. I didn't stay there for long. After only 16 months at Fort Sill, I was assigned to a new unit, Alpha Battery 2/32 FA, that was headed overseas to Germany.
I was stationed in Giessen, Germany for three years (1990-1993).During that time my second son was born May 16th 1991. Needless to say, I got to see Europe and learned to speak Germany/French/Spanish a little during my tour. I was at the Olympic in Barcelona, Spain in 1992. I also got to visit Paris, France, Salzburg, Austria, Rome, Italy, Belgium, London, England, and Checkloslovokia while I was there. I also saw Berlin Wall come down and served our country during the Desert Storm/ Desert Shield.
After that tour, I came back to the United States and was trained by the Army as a Wire System Crew Chief at Fort Gordon, Georgia(1993). I divorced my first wife(1994). I served for a few more years¿ state side at Fort Knox, Kentucky and Fort Hood Texas then left the Army with an Honorable Discharge in 1995. Before I got out of the military, I meet my current wife Joyce. She had two girls Jessica and Lindsey. I immediately fell in love with all of them and we have been a family ever sense.
Before I left the military service, I was hire to build Telecommunications equipment for companies like Southweste...Expand for more
rn Bell and MCI. Eventually, I became a Project Manager at the company that I was working for. In 1998 I received a job offer to become a Central Office Operations Supervisor for the company called Uswest (now know as Qwest)in Utah. I worked for them in Northern Utah and was instrumental in supporting and construction of the communications for the Salt Lake Olympics in 2002. After 9/11, I was laid off and found myself looking for employment for the first time sense I had left the military(2003-2004).
During the time I was laid off I decided to us the time to go back to school and finish a Degree at Weber University in Ogden. I graduated with my A.S. and was hired by Union Pacific Railroad as a Telecommunications Equipment Installer(2004). After working for UP Railroad for 2 years, I was offered a promotion to an IT Supervisor in Denver, Colorado(2006), so I took it. I moved from Utah to Colorado Springs, CO in the winter of 2006.
Jessica, my oldest Daughter graduated High School in the spring of 2007. My oldest son (Matthew) graduated in 2008.I worked for UP railroad for an additional year finished off my Bachelor's Degree in Computer Systems and Information Technologies from PACE University in New York in (May 2008) and was offered a job by the company that I am currently working for Called SI International now known as Serco as a Senior Network Engineer/IT Project Manager. I currently travel around the world to countries like Taiwan, Georgia, Azerbaijan, and Slovenia designing Networks in support of Department of Energy's Second Line Defense Initiatives for Homeland Security.
This year, Lindsey and Weston will be graduating from High School (May 2009). And my wife (Joyce) will be graduating With her Master's Degree in Psychology!!
