Brett's Story
Life
After graduation, I immediately went to TJC and then to UT Tyler briefly. Not knowing what I wanted to do in life, I took a break and became a ski bum for 2 yrs. I worked in Vail during the 84-85 ski season and had a blast! I'll never regret it. Loneliness set in and I wanted to get married so I went back to TX to find a bride. I met my lovely wife at church and we were married in 87. I finished my schooling at UT Tyler in Computer Science in 88. Up until graduation, I always worked construction and odd jobs. Upon graduation, I was blessed with a job at LTV Aerospace in Dallas. I had sought an appointment as an officer in the US Air Force and after 9 mos with LTV, my appt came through. I was stationed at Falcon AFB, CO, working with GPS (Global Positioning System). I separated in 96 as a Captain after 7 yrs with the Air Force. Systems on GPS-related programs. In Feb 99, we moved into our new home in the mountains west of Colorado Springs -- a dream come true! At 8650 ft elev, we are surrounded by mountains and wildlife (watching a porcupine as I write!). We all love skiing and I love hunting (got my first elk in 2000). After Overlook, I was with a dot-com startup called ChannelPoint. I am now working for another startup which requires periodic travel overseas. Over the years, my values have changed. I'm no longer interested in being 'rich'. By God's grace, my relationship with Him has slowly, but steadily, strengthened. My goal in life is to ensure that my family knows Jesus as their savior and that they'll be prepared to meet Him at the end of this life and spend eternity with Him in the next. There is no more important task. I don't know what the future holds, but if my next 20 yrs are as colorful as the last, it will be interesting! I have been blessed beyond measure and reason and am continually thankful.
