Brian's Story
Life
College finally ended in 1996. I got my Ph.D. in chemical engineering from Rice University in Catalysis. My project was "Selective Hydrogenation of 1,3-butadiene over Pd and Pd/Cu catalysts"
Around the time I graduated, I married Pascale Bianco-Levrin who was then and is still the Press Attache at the French Consulate and moved back to Chicago.
Soon after graduation, I decided to work part-time for Industrial Steel & Wire Company, my family's company, while trying to locate a position in my field of study. After several months of fruitless searching for a job in France, Belgium, and the US, I realized that I enjoyed working at Industrial and living in Chicago and so I decided to stay with the company.
In 1998, Pascale and I had a baby, Anne-Sophie Dorine Furlong, who proceeded to take over our lives in a wonderful, positive way. She is completely "daddy's girl"

painfully restructuring my company to become more efficient and profitable during the hard times that followed after 9/11. The changes worked and the company is now doing quite well.
In March of '06, after several years of difficulty in our marriage, Pascale and I divorced. The divorce went smoothly and we remain very good friends. We agreed to joint custody of Anne-Sophie with me being the primary residential parent.
In December of '07, I met and started dating Denise Molina. She is a MD OB/GYN and I admire and respect the work she does. We fell in love and were married August of '07 in Long Grove. The Honeymoon was spent in Istanbul, Athens, and a romantic cruise in the Greek Isles.
Currently we all live in a 3-BDRM house near I-55 and Harlem on the southwest side of Chicago. Anne-Sophie is now 10 and goes to Abraham Lincoln GS in Lincoln Park where they have a full-fledged French program. She is fluent in both French and English and enjoys Soccer and Irish Dancing.
