Brian's Story

Life Married Annette Jacob (Lindbergh 76) in 1979. (Recently celebrated 35 years of marriage. Two boys. Lived in Plymouth, Robbinsdale (1st house), Maple Grove (built house in 1984, I did major remodeling in 2003).We moved to Rockford/Delano in 2013. Nice quiet place in the country w/3 acres and a barn. We love it here. 2 boys 1983 and 1987. Both are Eagle Scouts. I've been very involved in that for >15 years. Eldest son was married (2004-2014). My Granddaughter is a ray of sunshine in my life.) He works as a recording engineer and has gone back to school to get an Engineering degree. Youngest has a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Now works for 3M working with the guys that invented the technology he works with. College UMD for 1st year. Roomed w/Lou Starr. Graduated from U of MN (Mpls) - Institute of Technology (June 79) BS Electrical Engineering. No desire to go back to school. Too much busywork. I love to learn on the job by doing things that are new and challenging. Workplace I've been an Electrical Engineer since 1979. (Frank Ohly's shop class got me started in this field.) Worked on military stuff (missile lau...Expand for more
nchers, torpedoes, etc.) until late 1985. Medical devices (implantables) thru 1997, medical diagnostic instrumentation until mid 2000 and computer network storage systems until mid-2007). I worked on an implantable device to treat sleep apnea.Currently working for Heartware - designing implantable electronics for a heart pump. Big companies, mid size and start-ups. I've been a worker bee, project leader, design team supervisor, and system architect. I most enjoy leading a design team, and the start-up company atmosphere is the greatest. Medical electronics is neat because you see its direct impact on people's lives and their quality of life. (See my Linked-In profile.) I'm sort of a perfectionist - things are most worth doing when they are done well, but there always comes a time when its best to shoot the engineer and ship the product. Fun Started riding motorcycles in 2006. I have a VStar 1100 that I love. My wife has a 2009 Honda 750 Aero. We have taken several trips around the state with our good riding friends. Recently was introduced to Autocross (precision driving) by my youngest son who's a bit of a motor head.
