Most females were married; had kids or were divorced w/kids. And I didn't give them enough notice to find a baby sitter. Most wanted to know why I had waited so long to call them, and wondered why I hadn't been around. After the Guard, with no serious relationship to keep myself at home, I chased semi trucks. I took assignments some straight and some split shifts in a 250 mile radius, and then would spend 8 to 12 hours driving a truck. If I get a chance to stop in Winchester Canyon, it's normally in the middle of the night. And I see my folks for an hour, then the highway calls and down the road I go. I'm still single, two unconfirmed sons in Germany. A baker's dozen of soldiers that I had served with overseas reported that I had left something in the oven. And I had left before, both of the ex-girlfriends were showing, I have had no contact with anyone that knew them and left after I did or has been back to that area since. My last four consecutive girlfriends each have two kids (not mine but, I supported them the best that I could) which, are all now grown. I've been proposed to seven times, and then they said: "it's my way or the highway". My job often makes me move or I found my junk on the front lawn. And then I threw it into the truck like I was going to the dump. A week goes by and they change their mind but, I've already pulled my tent stakes and put my campfire out.
