Cecilia Mamede:  

I attended El Paso High from 1969 (8th grade) through 1971 (10th grade). I moved to San Diego California in the summer of '71 (11th grade) and graduated in 1973 from Hoover High in San Diego. I should have graduated from El Paso High in 1973, had a remained. While at EPHS, I was very involved in music. I was in choir every year since middle school. I remember Mr. Odom. He was awesome. I also remember the Madrigals and would dream about someday making it into that group. My favorite singer was Lupe (don't remember her last name). I admired her. Not only did she have a beautiful voice but she was a beautiful person. When I moved to San Diego, I became very popular in my choir. I quickly moved up the ladder within one year and made it into the advanced vocal Ensemble. I was also an officer for the Choir. I received an award for Outstanding Soprano. I ended up going to college, California State University, Long Beach, where I majored in Music. I was awarded numerous awards and scholarships. I also sang many lead roles in operas and solos with orchestras. I was very, very much in high demand. I returned to San Diego where I sang with San Diego Opera.
