Barry's Story
Barry retired from Valvoline Inc. after 21 years and is now a consultant and freelance writer. While most of his time at Valvoline was spent in corporate and marketing communications, he was director of sports marketing from 1998-2001 overseeing Valvoline motorsports program worldwide directing programs in NASCAR, Indy Car, NHRA, SCCA, German Touring Car Series and World Rally series.
He managed the transition from sponsoring Mark Martin in NASCAR to becoming the first consumer products company to own a NASCAR team with the formation of Valvoline Racing in 2001. He is a noted speaker at motorsports marketing and spons...Expand for more
orship conferences. Bronson was an award-winning reporter and columnist with the Lexington (Ky.) Herald-Leader before joining Host Communications (now JMI Marketing), the college sports marketing and travel industry management company. He served as deputy press secretary and speechwriter to Kentucky Gov. Martha Layne Collins and was account supervisor at Michigan's largest Public Relations agency, Franco PR in Detroit. Bronson is a graduate of Transylvania University in Lexington, KY and holds an M.A. degree in Journalism from the University of Missouri -Columbia. He also is a graduate of the Skip Barber Racing School.
