Brooke's Story
My 3 years at Sammamish High School were some of the best times. When I think back I immediately hear "Come Sail Away" by Styx or "Shining Star" by Earth Wind & Fire being played on the cafeteria PA system every single day at lunch.
I think of the new friends I made and still stay in touch with. It seemed like everyone got along whether they were labeled "jock" or "stoner" or black or white. I'll never forget how David Rainwater would call me "cracker" from time to time and I would tell him "I'm the baddest Saltine in...Expand for more
the box" and we'd crack up!
I enjoyed playing football my senior year and getting absolutely crushed by Tad Lorentson, Brad Kelly and Earl Whiteside in scrimmages. In our day if you had beaf with someone, you used your fists. Guns in school was unheard of...how sad that that has changed tragically.
I'm thankful for the good teachers and coaches we had too.
I don't know about you, but when I need to spell the name of our high school on a form or application I can't help but say to myself, "S-A-M-M-A-M-I-S-H Let's go!".
