Bruce's Story

Note from Bruce: Trying to tell people what I've been doing the past 49 going on 50(!) years would be like chronicling a book like "On the road with Jack Kerouac". Suffice to say, I've survived like all the rest of the class of '66. A miracle! I attended UD for one year, continued studies at night but was short one year before hanging it up. Worked for Uncle Dupie (DuPont) for 20 years and 20 years for a company that was spun off from Hercules (Himont). Also did remodeling/restoration/construction of houses on the side for about 30 years and still do it today part-time (can't keep a good man down!). In between, I was married for seven years, had two sons, divorced, remarried, and have been, to my w...Expand for more
ife, Anne, for 33 years. She had two girls from a previous marriage and together we have 14 grandchildren (that is one big Christmas list!). Been retired for six years and can't stand it. Gotta keep moving. Work out at the gym six days a week, two hours a day and still play softball (yeah, guys; I'm still very competitive and still get mad, LOL!). Now live in Smyrna but still think of Wilmington and 'dear old High' everyday. Going to that building five days a week for three years was, shocking to y'all, the best time of my life. Yes, there have been many thoughtful periods where I could take some things back or did things differently but, ultimately, the memories are were all good. Take care, y'all.

Happy Birthday, Jeff. You would be 44 by now. We all miss you, buddy, I hope you are shooting hoops in the cloud-filled basketball courts of heaven. Makes me wonder what you’d think of the times today. Miss the familiar sho

Losing a child, no matter the age, is the loneliest, most desolate journey a person can take and the only people who can come close to appreciating it are those who share the experience. Recently, a friend posted his experi
Today, I attended a luncheon with some of my high school classmates that I had graduated with. This was several months following our Wilmington High School class of 1966 reunion (November 4, 2016). I wrote of that notable e
Rams won (good) but, seriously, refs had blinders on.
Borrowing this pic from a friend, who remembers this show? It probably was the forerunner of the modern athletic game shoes.
