Bruce's Story
Life
While my legal name is Bruce, other than in school I've always been known as Rick.
I have a wonderful wife, Marilyn, to whom I've been married more than six years, and I have two wonderful children, Pam and Bruce, and four grandchildren. My son's in Beaverton, OR, and my daughter's in Bellingham.
I've had an eclectic and great career until I retired in 1988. I was with the Bellevue American for 13 years and was editor the last eight years I was there. Then I published a newspaper for 3 years in eastern Washington. In 1979 I got into the computer industry and enjoyed its rapid and ever-changing pace, sold my software company in 1988 and retired. Since then I've helped start new businesses and done some venture ca...Expand for more
pital work. The last was residential construction when I got my contractor's license.
Marilyn and I have been blessed with the opportunity to travel throughout the world. We trekked to Annapurna Base Camp at 14,200 feet in the Himalayas in Nepal. That's me in the picture. We went back two years later to the wedding of our sherpa/guide. We've been to South Africa, Morocco, Thailand, sailing in Greece, visting Ireland, England and Italy. And I've done two ocean crossings sailing....Cabo San Lucas to Hawaii, and Hawaii to Seattle.
A year ago we moved to Guayabitos, Nayarit, Mexico and built a home there. It's less than an hour's drive north of Puerto Vallarta. Now we're spending some time in Central Oregon and in Mexico.
