Bruce's Story
Bruce is now retired and lives in Clermont in the NE Georgia mountains. Bruce's schools include Newport Harbor High School and California State University, Fullerton majoring in Communications and minoring in Math..
After a four year hitch as an officer in the US Navy, Bruce worked at the Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station for 33 years through the construction, startup and operating phases before his retirement as a Manager in June 2013. He spent 25 years there in Work Management focusing on the scheduling of required Maintenance and Testing of the three reactors both during refueling outages and during online periods. lable to make the work as efficient as practicable.
Now retired in the NE GA "mountains," Bruce spends time restoring air cooled VWs with his current project, a custom 1967 Karmann Ghia convertible. The Ghia has been described as the "Phantom Ghia" by his VW friends since most have never seen it during the custom restoration. Additional time is spent sailing on Lake Lanier aboard his 32 foot Bayfield cutter-rigged sloop.
Bruce has continued to swim on and off over the years with the US Masters swimming program. I still leap out of bed at 0338 and swim 5 days a week; about 4200 yards in each workout. Not as fast as my NHHS days, but still plugging away! I hear swim coach Bill Barnett's voice offering "encouragement" every day!
