Bruce's Story

I am an American Disabled Vet. My pictures are of me in a hospital bed with mismatched sheets, cover, and pellows. Not a pretty sight, with my full beard and long hair. So, while I try and get a better picture of myself, I have posted a picture of one of my young cats that have brought life to my days and nights as we entertain and care for each other through out the lonely hours everyone else is either asleep or off to work/school. I'll try and get the children to turn on my main computer so I can get our family photo and the photo of myself before being limited to my hospital bed on the site. I always wanted to be a jet pilot when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a pipe dream idea. As it turns out, they were right. I ended up being a search and rescue aircrewman that was a navigator, radioman, flight mechanic, survival swimmer, and emergency medical technician. In the Coast Guard HH-52A, being a single pilot helicopter, I did get to fly it to relieve the pilot on those ling law enforcement, military, search and rescue, environmental protection, and disaster response flights. Curently, I beta test online computer games and virtual worlds. I have done testing for Sony and other big publishers. I play the for free virtual worlds and old computer games at home (due to my being disabled and limited in income). I never had any monsters in the closet or under the bed with my children. They all knew I was up at night and that I did patrols in the military. So, I told them there were no monsters because I caught them all and placed them in my computer. With them seeing me catch mice, rats, birds, and bugs by hand without killing them during the day and night, they believed I could catch the monsters and release them alive. I told them that the monsters were only lonely and wanted someone to play with. That I did through my computer games, and they went away happy. Hey, it worked for four children. Must be something to it. lol If I'm going to work somewhere, I need to have physical accommedations, good pay, and very low stress to be able to deal with the day-to-day. But, most of all, I need to contribute back to my community. That is what I have done all my life. It did not start with entry to the US Coast Guard. It started with the church and the Boy Scouts. It then went into the Navy Jr ROTC and the Cival Air Patrol, and auxiliary of the US Air Force. I continue that by teaching my profession, tutoring academic and professional skills and knowledge. I also contribute through assisting the American Red Cross whenever I can. Cu...Expand for more
rrently, I have returned to school to get the Masters degrees online that I need to teach fulltime online for the local community college, and maybe an institution of higher learning, like ITT Tech. You see, My aspiration is to become a full time online professor teaching my profession and providing leadership by running for and being elected either to the school board, or the county councel. To get to that end, my military career has given me the experience, now I am getting my degrees. I have my AA in Aviation, Electronics, and Pharmacy Technology, my BS in Management, my Masters in Information Systems, getting my MA in Education specializing in Adult Education and Training. Next will be my Masters in Management/Public Administrations, a MS in Engineering, and finally either a Doctorate in Education Leadership or Doctorate in Public Administration and Policy. In 10 years, I hope to be semiretired and teaching. I'm going to get there by getting my degrees and continue to be an adjunct professor and community educator and trainer. That is where the American Red Cross comes in. My best friend would tell you I'm unique, but people who don't know me very well would probably describe me as wierd. Having a dry and wierd sense of humor would be the thing that protrays that difference the most. My best friends appreciate my humor, where those who do not know me would not. The one person from my past who I'd most like to see again is Angie Hill, because she was a dear friend and allowed me to be myself, play role playing games late/early into the morning, and always cared for me. I returned to Detroit MI a year after her phone was removed from the phone book and despritly searched for her. I have not been able to find her under her married name, and do not remember her maiden name to try and find her now. I need all the friends I can get. It would also be nice to hear how her children grew up and to tell her about the four I have still growing up. Diane Burroughs would be the other friend I would like to hear from. She went to college when I moved to Richmond VA from Albany GA back in 1974 with my mother when she entered the Union Theological Seminary. I lost track with here and was not allowed to leave a message for her when I returned to Albany GA between High School graduation and starting college at the Old Domenion University in Norfolk VA. I would like to know that her life turned out as happy and enjoyable as I have always wished for her. How did married life turn out, and how many children did she have. What are her grandchildren like?
