Bruce's Story
I went to St. John’s University right after high school, but couldn’t afford to stay. My lottery number came up in the draft, so I enlisted in the Air Force and spent 4 years in Maine. I came home to marry my high school sweetheart, Vicki Hamrick, and the two of us returned to Maine. Our first baby was born there just before we came back home to MN. Lived in Lake Elmo 2 years, moved to St. Paul Park for 10 more and then to Woodbury where we still live today. We added 2 more kids and now have 6 grandkids. Vicki and I both surviv...Expand for more
ed near fatal bouts with cancer but are doing well now.
After the Air Force I sold real estate while finishing my college degree and then went to work for the Minnesota Housing Finance Agency for 15 years. I went into the private mortgage banking industry for 10 years and then back to the state for another 15 years to lead the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) to provide consulting services to help folks start or grow a small business. I retired in the Spring of 2023 so we’re now figuring out the “easy life”. Havin’ fun!
