Bruce's Story
From High School I continued to work cooking at Pine Cone Inn, then The Branding Iron, then
The Wine Cellar all while playing in the local band "Piranha" til I was booted for having too much rock and roll fun. Went to my 5 year re-union and made a fool of myself and hadn't been back since.
I then went to work in Modesto for the family at Nice Things for several years. Got married to 1st wife for a year in 1989 but couldn't be both a husband and father to her.
About 1997 I worked my own
"Nice Things" store in Stockton. I married a second time in 1998 and that lasted two years as did our Stockton store. I couldn't be a husband, and father (had a miscarriage), and a lover all at the same time. Wife left for best friends cousin who was Italian like her. Didn't like the old Pollock anymore. "And she used to call me predjudice because I made jokes about everyone. Even us Poles." I went back to our store in Modesto and after a year had to close it after having to move from the mall because of exceedingly high rent.
I came back to Merced and ran the Merced "Nice Things". In 1999 I had my heart attack and by December of 2000 we had closed the Merced "Nice Things" due to the end of our lease and raised rents as the U.C. Merced was coming to town.
Again in 2001 I changed my profession and then went to work driving Merced County buses and then on to school buses. I did that for a year and decided to move to Venice, Florida where both my sister Cyndi, and brother Jeff had moved years earlier. My parents had also decided to move there so I just helped them move out to there desired home to retire in.
In 2002 I was working for Sarasota County Schools...Expand for more
as an aid for handicapped children on buses. I also aided the undesirable students as I did at CT in Merced. After a year of that I met my 3rd wife Donna and her 4 year old daughter on the internet.
Donna had just gotten through her second divorce and a bout with cancer. She is a pharmacist and does very well for us. I now again work in a gift gallery doing custom picture framing as I did at our family store but with less headaches as I do not own it.
I now play Mr. Mom when I'm not working. I do the laundry and take care of my 13 (going on 30) year old step-daughter. I cook, take care of the pool, and the decorating and house cleaning. I also have to wonderful dogs to take care of and two saltwater fish tanks. That leaves ne with little time but I am also trying to get a DJ business going and also a ceramic fish tile, and stained glass business. My best clients so far are our dear friends, author/screenwriter Hilary Hemingway, (Neice of Ernest) and her husband/author Jeff Lindsey. Jeff writes the "Dexter" novels which were the inspiration for the Showtime hit of the same name.
We have a time share in Orlando and spend two weeks or more a year there going to Disney World and more. Not much need to do anymore travelling. We do love our time at home. We watch "Dexter", "House", and "Bones" to relax. Our house is called Disney South by my sister.
Brother Doug and his family has moved out here since the rest of us did and his job was deleted at Pepsi. The only Boyd remaining in California of our clan is Brian and he is teaching math in Chowchilla and coaching sports. Dad died in 2008 due to a massive heart attack and Mom is still doing okay.
