Bruce's Story

Message me for free at Facebook, I cannot access emails here at classmates. Still single, my time since Pallotti has brought me to some fantastic places and given me some wonderful opportunities to pursue dreams. So here is my autobiography : Pallotti High School was followed by warehouse work (Desk and Furnishings) and then a job as a police dispatcher (Mont. Co. PD). Attempts to join the fire dept never worked out and so off I went to college to get a degree prior to pursuing a career in law enforcement. A year in Chattanooga (UTC) and a Criminology degree from FSU in Tallahassee and back to Maryland for a year as an OC summer cop. 20/40 vision kept me off the force full time and I segued into private eye work doing insurance investigations specializing in survellance. Burned out after 6 years, joined the Laurel Volunteer Fire Department as a live-in member for 5 years and worked in security at Historic Savage Mill. Started an antique delivery business, helped with some household and retail store moves, took over security for the Antique Centers at the mill but became disallusioned with ever finding my way up the professional ladder (bigger retail outlets said my experience was too limited, smaller places with more potentional felt I was overqualified, LOL!). Govt. work was a no go also due to the 20/40 vision so I followed another high school dream and quit my job and went to school to get my commercial d...Expand for more
river's license, and I happily hit the road! I've been honored as Trucker Buddy of the Month (Dec 2006) by Trucker Buddy International. Through their organization I have been a penpal to students corresponding from the road to introduce them to both the travel and the professional aspects of the life of a truck driver. In 2002 the Washington Times included me in a feature about Trucker Buddy and my 2nd grade class in Staten Island. In 2006 I was recognized as Trucker Buddy of the month for my annual visits to my 8th grade class in Iceland. This year I am a trucker buddy to a 1st grade class in Florida! As a driver I have more than a million safe miles and belong to Highway Watch, a group that works and trains with the Department of Homeland Security as 50,000 sets of eyes and ears on the nations roadways. Currently ending a year long sabbatical, I have enjoyed my time immensely. I dedicated time to a local volunteer fire department in Wildwood, GA where I own some land, and after the past year of training and becoming a driver/operator for 2 engines and 2 tankers, a rescue truck, a squad, and a brush unit, I was just selected for the annual "Fire Fighter of the Year" award by my department (2008)! I then bought their 1964 Mack fire engine! Now have gone back to work as an over the road driver for Schneider National, you know 'em, the big orange trucks (pumpkins!). cue the sunset, 18 wheeler, exit stage west.
