Bruce's Story
Well, hi everyone. Here's a little about me. I attended Nassau Community College, and then Adelphi University, graduating with my B.A. in Political Science/History. I was very interested in government, and began a Master's Degree in Public Administration at SUNY Stoney Brook. I was working full time as a Department Manager at Gertz, and it was just too big a load.
My interests also changed, and I became interested in law enforcement. I then relocated to Baltimore, MD where I became a police officer. I was there for about 5 years, and then became interested in Social Services. I left the police department, and became a medical assistance case worker for the Maryland Department of Social Services. I worked there for a number of years working out of Silver Springs, Germantown, and Annapolis.
I relocated to San Diego, CA in 1997 to join my parents who had retired there, and my sister who had gone to law school and stayed in the stat...Expand for more
e as well. I went back into law enforcement, working first as an Immigration Inspector with the INS, and then as a Customs and Border Protection Officer with the Department of Homeland Security following the events of 9/11. I am currently working at the U.S.- Mexico Border just south of San Diego.
My one marriage ended in 2004, and unfortunately, my sister Mindy, died in 2011 at only 50 years of age from cancer. I never really adapted to the "west coast mentality", and am seriously considering a return to the east coast. The only real advantage San Diego has offered me was great weather. The people are what makes a place great though, and I do miss the east coast. Perhaps back to Maryland (where I still have friends), or Virginia which I love for the countryside and civil war battlefields.
I am looking forward to our 40th High School Reunion, and look forward to seeing many of you once again. Those definitely were the "good old days"!
