Bruce's Story
For most of the last 40 years I have been a family practice physician in the San Fernando Valley of So. Cal. IâÂÂve been married 3 times but 24 years ago got it right and have 3 children- Jason age 36, Jacqui 31, and Bruce Jr. 22.
At York I was an above average but not excellent student, mostly jock oriented (wrestling x 4 years) and mostly moved along midstream. After 1 year at Beloit College, 1 year working in a factory in New York City, 2 years at U of Ill., I was admitted to their medical school in Chicago in 1965, graduating 1969. I interned at LA County/USC in 1970, returned to So. Ill. University to work for 2 years, travelled around the planet in 1973, returned to Ca. in 1974 and started a private medical practice in 1977 which I have continued since.

l oriented, recognizing that through no effort on my part, I was born in the right place, to the right parents at the right time to be successful in life if I played by the rules and could just as easily been born to lose. I and my patients have suffered under Wall Street control of healthcare and have advocated a âÂÂMedicare for Allâ system. In recent years I have become involved in the sustainability movement realizing that my generation, unlike my parents will probably leave our children a planet that is in worse shape than that left to us. I fear future generations will view us as the generation that âÂÂsaw the handwriting on the wallâ but chose to ignore it. This weighs on my conscience and in my âÂÂencore yearsâ I would like to work on reversing this trend.
