Bruce's Story
After leaving Western I went for a year to the University of Nevada, Reno. After this I finished my degree in Biology at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. During this time I completed an apprenticeship for Theatrical Carpentry and worked at a number of Hotels in Vegas. I mostly worked with Juliet Prouse, Debbie Reynolds and Bobbie Gentry, but did work with other performers and stage shows. While completing my degree I completed additional studies in education. After graduation I accepted a position in Australia. One thing led to another and I stayed on in Australia. During this time I have owned and developed a large walnut/chessnut/cattle farm, worked on oil platforms and travelled throughout the world. I was teaching in addition to my other roles. in Australia with Information Technology. I currently hold a role as a Hospital Director and I am an IT Manager with the Australian Tax Office. I live in the state of Victoria sometimes in Melbourne and sometimes on the farm in the Northeast.
I have now accepted a role with the Australian Taxation Office within the IT stream. It is based in Canberra Australia which will make things interesting for the next year. Setting up a home away from home is going well. After being with the ATO for nearly 4 years and achieving 3 promotions I decided to accept a redundancy from the ATO. It was an opportunity to good to pass. It allowed me to "retire" to the farm. Do some teaching for off farm interest along withan appointment to the regional water board. My new title is Farm Manager and it is great.
