Bryan's Story
College
By the time I made my mind up to transfer from Florida to the University of Arkansas in 1980 I had already attended three (3) different colleges since graduating HS in 1971. I needed to get away from all the dealers and loadouts I had grown up with and was going to college with in Florida...if I was ever going to graduate! Yeah, you guys know who you are!
Anyway, I went cold turkey, moved to the beautiful Ozark Mtns of NW Arkansas where I didn't know a soul at the time and purchased my own mountain! I ran for and was elected to the Arkansas Student Government (ASG). In 1982 while attending an ASG party at the U of A Law School I had the pleasure of meeting and talking for over an hour to then Gov William J. Clinton. I liked him immediately as he was and still is one of the most interesting and genuinely likeable persons I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. I have been ...Expand for more
able to speak with President Clinton twice since that time (once in NYC while he was campaigning in 1992 and recently here in Fayetteville).
Though I did end up meeting many "cool" people at the U of A during my time there, the partying was nothing like what I had left behind in Florida, and to this day I'm convinced that's why I was able to make it and graduate.
I am currently back at the U of A fulltime this Fall 2004 semester taking classes and just enjoying being around the campus again. We moved back to Fayetteville in 1995 so my wife could complete her Masters in Journalism and I have been taking classes on and off since then. I love Fayetteville and the University...GO HOGS!
When my son graduates with his Broadcast Journalism degree in 2005 we will have FOUR (3) RAZORBACKS in our family and one Colorado State Ram...she's of course the BLACK sheep of the family HA!
