In autumn of 1986, I was drinking beer with a friend in Balboa. We had parked and we're on a dock on the bayfront. Somehow I didn't get arrested for a DUI. also was ordered to go to an AA meeting. It was at Hoag Hospital on a Saturday night. Little did I know that in 6 years I would be attending 90AA meetings in 90 days and my drinking career effectively ended. It took head injuries, multiple arrests, and several job losses to finally know I was done drinking.
