Bryan's Story

Howdy all! I remember a creative goal in our yearbook, Charlie Fedelski wrote one of his goals was to,"sell snowballs in hell." Well, I haven't done that, but I have done a few others. I have been fortunate to have several careers. After High School, I joined the Air Force. When they said I was going to be an Air traffic controller, I thought, "Great, I'm going to be the guy standing on the tarmac, directing aircraft with colorful flashlights!" Well, it didn't turn out to be what I thought it would be. I ended up being an air traffic controller, (tower flower, not a scope dope!) even flew a world war 2 fighter-trainer, called a T-6 texan. Ever since then, I've had a colorful and ever stressful chain of careers. (Law enforcement in three states as well as public safety/communications). There are two things I'd still like to try, bull riding, (the baby bulls I once rode when i was a kid on a friend's dairy farm don't count) and sky diving. I know, doesn't make sense to jump out of a perfectly safe aircraft, but the thrill would be nice. I tend to be an adrenaline junky and I still love meeting new and interesting people. I love to ask questions and share experiences. I love coffee. I became a caffeine addict compliments of the Air Force. Seeing me without a Dunkin Donuts, or Starbucks cup in hand is the equivalent spying a unicorn. I could be stranded in the Sahara and I'd find a Starbucks, (well, since their cutbacks...maybe not!) I have lived in Great Britain for a few years, as well as out west, (TX & AZ) and now, FLA. I was fortunate to have stumbled across a mentor wh...Expand for more
ile living and working in Concord, NH 12 or so years ago. I always loved to write, (creative) and discovered a writer who lived up the road from my wife and I. Elizabeth Yates was 94 when I first met her. It was a bit intimidating as I was just a beginner, but she was brilliant and encouraging. Elizabeth and I continued to meet and write until her death in 2001. I kept every one of her letters because of her advice and their sentimental value to me. A month after our first meeting I published my first article in Country magazine and have been writing ever since. I am a frequent, freelance contributer to the Keene Sentinel, (NH Voices). I wrote a book a few years ago but my agent couldn't sell it. So, I am writing another and another till I do! My wife, Clare and I met while I was in the ALETA/LE academy in Tucson, AZ. We connected quickly as we shared the same sick sense of humor and had great chemistry. We have been married 18 years this Dec. and have one daughter, Connee, who turned 16 this year, (holy crap I'm getting old!) Perhaps, having a daughter was God's payback for the way I was when I was younger. We have been lucky, as my Connee seems to be pretty level headed, exteremly tall, but level headed! I'm interested in many things, when I get interested in something, I research the crud out of it! (Once I spent a bit of time in Tombstone while researching Wyatt Earp.) Then, I write about it. I also like to take photos to help sell the story. Well, that's about it. Pretty boring really. Oh, did I tell you about the astronaut I once met? Ah, but that's another story!
