Buddy's Story

After RMHS, I went to Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. During college, I married my high school girl friend and my son Tony was born. After college, I went to work for Bechtel Corporation and I worked there nearly 20 years. In 1979, I was divorced. The following year I married my wife Sandy and we've been married for over 35 great years. Our son Paul was born in 1988 and he graduated from Villanova in May 2010. He then attended the Drexel School of Law and will graduate in May 2014. In 1991, I left Bechtel and started my own software company, Jacobus Technology. In 1997 we were acquired by Bentley Systems. In 1999 I transferred to Bentley's headquarters outside of Philadelphia where I was the Sr. VP in charge of all software development for 7 years. I then started up and managed Bentley's Applied Research Group. In 2013, I retired from Bentley but still do a few hours a week consulting for them. We now live in Glenmoore, PA. My son Tony graduated from Western Maryland and also migrated into the software business. Tony is a ...Expand for more
Development Manager at Bentley and also lives in PA. He and his wife Ali have three great kids -- Riley, Gavin, and Griffin, so we get to spend a lot of time with the grandkids. I spend most of my free time performing with several blues bands in the Philadelphia area. I play out with one band or another just about every weekend. I've co-produced and performed on 10 CD's over the past 15 years for the Voodoo DeVille, Smokehouse Ramblers, Union Street Blues, Porkroll Project, Georgie Bonds, and Shadows & Dust bands. In 2010, "Shake It Twice" by the Porkroll Project was a semi-finalist in the Blues Foundation's "Best Self-Produced CD" competition. Also in 2010, the Porkroll Project won a regional Blues competition and was a semi-finalist in the International Blues Challenge. We played 3 nights on Beale Street in Memphis in January 2010. We finished in the top 20 of over 110 bands from around the world. We also qualified to compete in 2012 and 2014 and had a great time each time we went to Memphis. I think I'm having more fun now than ever.
