Buneva's Story
Life
Started college at Calif. Western Univ. (now USIU), transferred to San Diego State in 1954. Married in 1955. After 29 years as a stay-at-home mom active in youth activities, divorce allowed me to enter the work force as an executive legal secretary. Attended USD Law School in 1986, becoming a certified paralegal. Retired in 1999 as Office Manager of a law firm in La Jolla. Left California in 2005, moving to Janesville, Wisconsin, where I remarried my former husband on the 50th anniversary of our first marriage. All told, we have 4 children, 4 grandsons, and 1 grand-daughter. We had custody of our youngest grandchild (Deanna) while her father (our youngest child) was in the army -- her mother died in 2002. s father, was severely wounded in Iraq in September 2005 and he and Deanna now live/still live with us (Lamar added a bed/sitting room onto our house when Eric came home from the hospital. Life is wonderful! Now, in 2013, we're down to only 3 grandsons (eldest was killed in Iraq in 2009) and have 2 great-granddaughters, one aged 3 years (with a baby brother on the way!) and one 1-year-old. We are very active in veterans' organizations: in May of 2013, I was installed as State President (Wisconsin) of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Military Order of the Purple Heart and have been busy promoting the organization throughout the state. Deanna is now 15 years old and is as independent as we'll allow her to be (what teenager doesn't??).
