UPDATE! Hey y'all! God makes all things NEW! I'm finishing up my Major at the City College Of New York in the Film and Video BFA program. So...I'm embarking on more fun, creative endeavors in the equally crazy world of Filmmaking. I'll keep you all posted, I've got several scripts, films, shorts, music videos, and ideas, on my TO-DO list. CCNY is home to the best Professors, so respected and esteemed. I'm blessed to learn from such talent. Life is so visual, and so harmonic...I truly wanted to incorporate the impact of Film and Music (score/songs, etc.). Biggest Crush? hmmm...I might say Tommy Fizzina ("Fizz") from Strange Brew? Of course musicians and artists are a strange breed and always tend to hang together ;)
Which teacher inspired me most? My chorus teacher...Eleanor Norton - who taught me that I could carry my dream as far as I was willing to fly, and my 12th grade English teacher Mr. Brown who got all of us out of our square-head thinking and taught us that this world is so much bigger than our differences.
If I could do it all over again, I would love to have gone to Manhattan School of Music & Art, or Europe...In retrospect, I think High School would have been easier if we held the wisdom we have now, and the energy of a seventeen year old! LOL!
My best memories revolved around playing music with my band 'Count Zepplin' which evolved into "Stark Naked" (once 'Led Zepplin' came out with their first album). The best of times were rockin' with Pete Taylor's band, Strange Brew - it was an era of growth and a tumultuous time for our country.
It was exciting to hear Cream, Hendrix, Clapton...Ginger Baker, need I say more?
MY STORY
I spent many years traveling and touring with my band, ¿Stark Naked¿ on RCA. It was a great opportunity to experience the impact we have as human beings on the younger kids who look up to us for direction. I believe as musicians and artists we have a responsibility to motivate our youth in a positive direction, to uplift, for they are the hope of their generation and ultimately, our planet's survival.
I've played concerts with Stars, with some of my own 'heroes' and have come to realize that money and status doesn't have much to do with true happiness...as the Beatles once said, "and in the end, the Love we take, is equal to the Love we make." For me, it's about serving the Lord, and giving of oneself for the benefit of others. The Spiritual rewards far outweigh any work of man and pumping up our own egos.
Regarding this question, "What about you would surprise everyone at your high school reunion?"
My response would be that I used to be quiet and shy. I am no longer that girl. I face my challenges with a drive to succeed and do not allow myself to be ruled by fear of anything. All things can be conquered when your faith is in God.
