Yvette's Story
Life
After a brief jaunt to the world of (early) midlife crises, I married my fabulous husband, Jamie, in 1999. It took me awhile, but I had my first baby in 2004 - my beautiful daughter, Katie James. We currently make our home in Castro Valley, CA, but just sold our house and are moving to Austin, TX. Yeehaw! (2006 update: We're Here!!)
Still keeping my land on Lake Shasta and hoping to come back and retire there some day sooner rather than later.
Saving the chopper and leathers for my next mid life crisis.

College
Spent 7 years getting my bachelors degree at Cal Poly, SLO, working full-time+ at retail and bookkeeping jobs. I swore I'd never do another lick of school af...Expand for more
ter graduating, yet somehow found myself signed up for the MST (Tax) program at SJ state before I even had my undergrad diploma in my hand - a few kind teachers let me out of my last finals to make it all work.
I actually flunked out of Cal Poly after the first quarter as a math major (what was I thinking?!). Took a detour to Cuesta JC for a couple years before coming back to Poly as an accounting major.
Workplace
No more flipping burgers (or frying chicken) after leaving my glamorous High School job at the Hiouchi Hamlet. I spent 5 years doing Tax for Deloitte right out of college, and then moved to industry. I now manage the federal tax compliance for a $2B biotech company in Emeryville (yes, the one of flu vax infamy).
