Buzz Literski:

CLASS OF 1971
Whitefish bay, WI

Buzz's Story

Well, it's been a long, strange trip between 1971 and today. Let's get going. There wasn't a lot going on since I graduated from Lakeland College in 1975. Tried to continue and be a 'jock' playing basketball & baseball. I left Milwaukee in 1982, right after the Brewers lost in the World Series. I was that dejected. Well, I was in the process of moving to either Tampa or San Francisco. Little did I know my life was going to turn 180 degrees. Performing my job as a Senior Claim Approver at MetLife caught the eye of Corporate folks in New York City who were beginning a new project. And they wanted ME (of all people) to be part of it. I couldn't say no. Well I could have but wanted to show my ex-fiancee that I did have thoughts of a career. She broke up with me earlier.......but I digress. Let's get back to 1982. I'll be back and add more to my story. Well - I'm back. Let's pick up where I left off. Before the actual move I had to attend training in Manhattan - the Big Apple- the Biggest & Craziest City in the World. Talk about a fish out of water. Actually, I spent a couple of days in manhattan for classes while I worked at MetLife before then. That was only a couple of days. This was for 3 weeks. Little did I know that this was goin...Expand for more
g to home a few years later. After the training ended the other attendees (there were 2 others) and I met with the Department Vice Presidents for an exit interview. I was pretty confident that I was a lock for one of the positions. I(I actually remember what I wore - a blue blazer, grey slacks, white shirt, blue tie). They were pleased with my responses to their questions and let me know that I would be going to San Francisco for a 6 month project to assist the local Claim office in achiving hogher goals in productivity, management processes and overall office organization. I'd have to teach managers and staff on how to become better at their job. Talk about a lot of responsibility. Here I was, a relative nobody back home, and to become this? Pinch me - I'm.in NYC and going to San Francisco (don't cal it San Fran or Frisco - you'll be pegged as a tourist for sure). Across country with a 3 day stop back in Milwaukee. In all there would be four members of the team, the Unit Lead from Pittsburgh, the Senior Associate from Aurora, Illinois, a Junior associate from Kingston NY, and myself (don't call me Junior). I have a lot more to write ab out and will add more in a little while - stay tuned for more of my Life Adventure. It gets better.
