Byron's Story
Got my license. Moved to Minot from Mpls.the summer of 66. Started school, Enjoyed wood shop, metal shop, auto shop. A Normal 11th / 12TH grade school day would include some thing to do with skipping a class, jokin & smokin. One class skipped included a ride with John Westley in his Mustang and doing 140 mph south on Hwy 83. Many lunches were spent at Kenny Kitzmens house.
Made some money workin at the car wash. $1.00 hour, we were paid cash at the end of the day. 3 burgers and a coke at King Leos for a buck and 3 or 4 gallons of gas for a buck! What else do you need.
Summers were working for Buxa Sod co. , keg parties and Strawberry Lake. Also worked for Walt Farroh Roof Truss co building roof trusses with my frie...Expand for more
nd Bill Ness. Pumped gas up on south hill also for awhile.
Many miles were driven in one of my cars.... 51 green chevy, 56 Caddy, 57 Chevy,62 Ford Fairlane, 57 Ford Victoria, 68 Chevy Impala, 62 Chevy Impala cruzing the gut, A & W, & Big Boy.
Met the love of my life Trish Volk (1968 grad). Lots of Friday and saturday night partys ended by going to the truck stop for a bite to eat bout the time the sun came up.
I was on target to graduate,(dispite myself), in 69 but ended up working and didnt actually graduate till 70. That was disappointing but probably saved my life because the Army drafted me the summner of 70 instead of 69 so I got to go to Germany, instead of Vietnaum. Great friends, good memories of good times.
