Rick's Story

Life I moved to Southern California after graduating from ASU in December of 1982. Married my college sweetheart Patty and have been happily married for 22 years now. I still try to make it to at least one ASU football game every season. Patty and I had season tickets when we were students and it was always a blast. Told her all the stories about how much fun we had selling programs for Mr. Ranshaw when we were in high school. We have two girls one is a sophomore at the University of San Diego and the other one is a junior at Notre Dame High School with plans to go to Loyola Marymount. Worked 13 years at McDonnell Douglas (now Boeing) in Long Beach before starting my own business 6 years ago. Had to leave Boeing because I had hit the top of the ladder in Long Beach and didn't want to move to Seattle to move any higher. I am an FAA Designated Engineering Representative, which allows me to approve type design data for the FAA without actually wor...Expand for more
king for the government. Starting my own company was the best move I ever made from a business and personal finances standpoint. After not playing roller hockey for a number of years I got back into it about 10 years ago. Having a lot of fun, but age is slowing me down. I am probably just about the oldest guy out there these days. Even the over 30 league is a challenge now. School I would have to say that their were two teachers that inspired me the most in high school and I was fortunate enought to have them both as teachers in the classroom and coaches on the field. Mr. Craig Thies was my geometry teacher and football coach. He taught me the value of discipline, hard work, and being someone that other people can rely on. Mr. Roger Williams was my Arizona Government teacher, freshman football coach, and varsity baseball coach. He always encouraged me to work harder and was always there with a pat on the back or a kick in the butt at the appropriate time. My biggest crush that I never acted on in HS was Nancy. I think she was interested in me too, but the timing just never seemed to be right.
