Life
Family:
I married Ingrid Berrisch, of Wuppertal, Germany in November 1973, and we have 4 children: Anne-Marie, Christoph Björn, Philip, Matthias, and a Sheltie named Schep. Ingrid studied Protestant Theology, Forestry, and Library Science. She graduated with a masters from SUNY-Albany in 1995 and works in the field since. I enjoy close relations with my siblings.

Music:
All of my children and Ingrid play musical instruments. We went without a car for two years in or...Expand for more
der to afford a German concert grand Steinway. Recently, when I have been home in Oregon, I have been working on Organ music. I like heavy Teutonic music, and can go to sleep listening to the Walküre opera by Wagner.
Health Adventures:
In 1989 I caught mononucleosis, and (perhaps as a result of that) in 1990 contracted myasthenia gravis. I was in intensive care three times that year due to breathing problems. Again in 2001 and 2002. Currently have it, and the drugs needed to fight it, under control.
Business:
After leaving IBM with early retirement in August 2001, I went into business for myself, and continue to consult for large software installations (ERP).
Music:
I just visited the Seattle production of the Wagner Ring end of August - 12 hours of lectures and 17 hours of German epic opera - Production was terrific - world class great.
Update:
6 Grandchildren. Billed 1500 consulting hours in last year ... will probably only do 1/10 of that upcoming year. Reading more [most recently Stefan Zweig's World of Yesterday] and I am making a new piano and organ recording, and enjoying the affection of my grandchildren. Love Portland. Myasthenia completely under control [miracles of modern medicine!]
