Calvin's Story
Life
Calvin here, back at Wheaton High I went by my middle name Rick (short for Richard). Started using my first name after the bartenders in college started calling by Calvin because of my check signing. OK enough of that background.
My brother (Dave) and I had a strong bond as we grew up and I didnt really start finding out who I was as an individual until his death in 69. Since then I have continued to find out who I am. Many lives and paths Ive ventured down over the years
many! To be honest I never thought I would see beyond 45. And here we are in our late 50s.
I lived a good full young life and like I said thought I would be gone by 45, but I wasnt so instead I got married at 45 for the first and only time. I had my first and only child at 46. My wife had two children from a previous relationship. So had no family at 44 and by the time I was 54 I had 3 children and 3 grand kids. Thats some growing.
I have been up and down the eastern seaboard over the past 58 years and have had many close and dear friends. Worked at some 30 or more jobs and almost as many careers. During this time I have been a...Expand for more
public high school Art teacher and football coach and I have been a college professor of art at some 9 Universities and Colleges. Most of my teaching has been done after I turned 40. As most of you 67 Knights are probably retired or close to it, I cant think about that for at least another 10-15 years somewhere around 73 or 75 probably. That part doesnt please me but hey I did my partying in my first 40 when I could handle it.
Life has had its ups and downs and all the time being a major blast
I cant complain about any of my travels and if I had to do it all over again I would do it all the same, except I would like for my brother to have been able to be here an live it with me.
Its been a real joy and I can only expect the next 40 to 50 years to be just as great. Hey my father is still going strong at 88 so I figure I got at least until then.
By the way folks the 40th reunion was a real hoot and truly one the most enjoyable. Hope to see you all at the next 10-year bash, if not before.
