Joyce's Story
Hi,
Its hard for me to open up but here goes.
I was married for 18 years - divorced - and never remarried. I have 4 children - my oldest graduated from West Point and has his master's. My 2nd child has her master's and teaches math/ science, my 3rd is working on her bachelor's , my 4th is successful and also has his master's - and I - I actually got my bachelor's degree. I bet that shocks many of you.
My dad died and now I help my mom and also oversee the care of my brother - John - who had two terrible accidents 7 years apart. It keeps me extremely busy.
Many of you know my ex - David Beshears. He is doing well and is married to a very nice woman.
All in all, things have gone well. I have 10 beautiful grandchildren and 4 beautiful children. That was all I ever wanted. Did that - now it's time for me. Yeah right :).
I will not tell you Arkansas is beautiful because that's a well guarded secret. We are now 7th in the nation for education and everywhere you look there are trees - even on the lakes - even in the cities. The people here ...Expand for more
- for the most part - are easy going. I am thankful to have come to Arkansas because it has done wonders for my children and for me. I was born here - in the back seat of a car - what a beginning. Of course I am also proud of being raised in Baldwin Park. On returning from a vacation in California a few years ago some friends introduced me to a boy "from California". He asked what part of California I was from and when I told him B.P. he said "Oh, shell town". I thought he was talking about sea shells - I realized had been away a long time.
The recreation I most enjoy here is camping with my cousin (Dee). She and I go to Beaver Lake in Rogers Arkansas. It is close to the Missouri border. We pitch a tent, blow up air mattresses, drag out ice chests,set up our chairs, slather on sunscreen, take my dog for a walk, then lay back and enjoy the beauty and each others company. Mostly we laugh
I am enjoying re establishing relationships and creating new ones. I hope and pray all of you are doing well. Joyce Cameron Beshears (kept it for the kids)
