Camille's Story
Life
When my mom snatched me out of the city and took me to the suburbs, I thought I would die! Seemed like there was a sea of little white kids to this black face. I saw no faces that looked like mine and that scared me. As those years went by and all of us gradually got older and went into high school I had basically wiped out of my head the "sea of little white kids" but saw all of you as my friends. Nothing more, nothing less. So in my junior year at T.F. South when I moved backed to Chicago, that was the hardest thing I had to do. Hell some of you were in Girl Scouts with me! (lol) I survived my senior year at an all-girl's school and graduated. I will not give you a fairy tale story of things I have done since I graduated, because I would be lying. I was immediately accepted into DeVry and in a hurry to graduate and be a grown up. Suddenly it struck me, I don't have a clue to what I want to do. I love writing poetry, I love reading. Things that are creative interest me. I couldn't see myself 10 years down the line typing in front of computer creating programs. EEK.... I was accepted in Western Illinois and wanted to...Expand for more
become a lawyer. You know, fight for the little people. Then I realized, I don't like to argue. So.....I was accepted into Columbia College and a music major (see how this is looking). I finally found my love there at Columbia. I found something I truly enjoyed. But....during my time there at Columbia I was in a bad car accident one week, my house burned down the following week. Bummer...I lost my spirit for a while and just kinda goofed off, to hell with school. I have had jobs from selling life insurance, to climbing poles (no not a damn stripper the cable company) to where I am today as a postal worker. Don't ask how that happened. Throughout all my adventures, I am still single and no kids (whew). Oh, I finally made it up in my mind to go back to school. My major is Radiology. I should be at UIC in the spring of 2005. Sometimes you have to grow up a little to know what you want out of life. I have done minor traveling. I will be going to the Bahamas in Oct. to bring in my 30th b-day (did I say that) and making a fool of myself in Feb. for Mardi Gras. LOL. My motto is live life to the fullest and apologize for nothing.
