Candace's Story

2020, June 9 - My granddaughter Kya graduated from Rogers High School, Puyallup, WA. Although it was not the "norm", it was very well organized and staff did an excellent job celebrating each graduate. My granddaughter is off to the University of Washington, Seattle in the Fall. Go Huskies! 2019 - In February, 12 days shy of her 93rd birthday and eight years after my dad, James Cusack, died, my mom, Audrey Cusack, peacefully went home to be with the Lord. This has actually been a year of loss as several friends have passed. On a lighter note, I became the proud owner of a standard silver poodle named Allie and have had to adjust my "normal" schedule. She's a great companion and gets me out walking (one of the reasons for getting a dog), regardless of the Seattle/Renton weather. Life and retirement continues to be good. 2016 - Since my boss, who was an elected official, lost her re-election bid, I began the year 2016 as a retiree and am totally enjoying my new status. the slower pace and the ability to spend more time with family and friends. My first major accomplishment was to go through each closet, drawer and storage area weeding out my "treasures." In February 2008, I became a grandmother for the second time. My daughter and son-in-law delivered a 5 lb. 1 oz. (and 5 weeks early) blonde-headed boy, Brody. He's doing really well and his 6-year old sister Kya is doing well with the new addition to their family. I have been working in the political realm for the last 6-1/2 years as a legislative aide to a county councilmember. It's an interesting world! Prior to that I was the Sr. Pastor's Executive Secretary/Office Manager at my church; and prior to that I worked at several law firms in Seattle as a legal secretary/assistant. Life is very full with work, family and friends. It seems like the pace never quite lets up and I'm running as fast as I can -- perhaps I'm just ready to retire and redirect my focus. Yea, that sounds good!

... and it only took 4 hours at the "beauty salon" to look this good. Thanks Willa!
