Life Hello to my friends at THS. I lived in Spain for nearly 4 years 1972-75 and spent my first two years at the middle school, my final two at THS. I'm like many people who say it was the happiest time of my life. After leaving THS in April '75, we moved to San Antonio and I graduated from high school in 1977. After that I went to UT-El Paso and majored in journalism. A 1981 UTEP grad, my first real job came at the El Paso Times. I worked in the features department at first, but moved to sports fairly quickly. I stayed until 1990 when I moved to Austin. I live in Austin and have worked at the American-Statesman, the only daily in town, for nearly 14 years. I'm a sports writer. I've been fortunate to cover everything from high school sports to the Super Bowl (6 times). There are many Spain ''kids'' who live in the Austin area. Among some of my local friends are Ray Bonilla, Susan Kilgore, Paul Senecal, Karen Traeger, Shelly Martin (Ray's wife), sisters Jody and Tracy, Debbie Pough, Mike Hutton (in Houston), Debbie Dial (in Houston area).
