Cara's Story

I would hope that old friends remember me as someone they could always count on. Someone who could make them laugh in the darkest of times, and one who was a true individual. I always wanted to be a doctor when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a good idea. As it turns out, they were wrong. Math was always my weakest subject - I just didn't get it! To get into med school, math is a biggie. Oh well, I love what I'm doing now! If I'm going to work somewhere, I need to have my planner, cell phone, and caffiene to be able to deal with the day-to-day. Nothing helps me decompress like a good book, or a great movie. Right now, I'm reading the 8th book of the Women's Murder Club series by James Patterson. A co-worker turned me on to them, lends them to me when she's done, and I can't put them down! As for movies; when I really need to step out of reality for a little while, there is nothing better. Sitting in the dark, big screen, diet soda, and a friend (or my husband!)...perfect! For the most part, I have stayed around Cedar Rapids. When I was married the first time, we moved to Pennsylvania where my husband at the time was working. That move lasted two years before I needed to come back home where my family was. Cedar Rapids is "home" for me. In addition to my two teenaged children, I have a 39 year old step-daughter, a 31 year old step-son, a 6 year old orange tabby cat, Potter, and a 2 year old Black Labrador Retriever, Lexus (Lexie Jo). As for obsessions -- hmmm..not sure this is the time or place. :-) From Tyler (...Expand for more

They have taught me about trust, ambition, and because of them I see the world through new eyes. Of course, sometimes, those eyes are bloodshot from staying up too late waiting for one of them to come home - HE knows who HE is!! Its true that life doesn't always turn out the way one expects it to. For instance, I always said that once I got married, I would never divorce, because I wouldn't want to put my children through that. In reality, my divorce from my first husband was the best thing that ever happened to me - or to the kids! If I could improve my home, I'd remodel the kitchen and add on a sunroom. The current project though, is the backyard. The old, rotting Hackberry tree is finally gone, as is that messy, poisonous Black Walnut tree. So, we now have a clean slate. My husband is a horticulturist, so between him and my son (who has the strong back), I should have my backyard oasis by next summer. I can't wait! My dream home would be a sprawling 4 bedroom, 3 bath, split level, with a huge kitchen, home theater, and a pool, in a wooded area. It would have to have plenty of room for Lexie to run and explore, and it has to be quiet! I find that I need that peace more and more. My current age is 41. When I was 12, I thought that people my age now would be dead by this time. I was so completely wrong. I had no concept of time, obviously! 40 is the new 20 and 60 is the new 40! My mother proves that to me every day!
