Cara's Story
Life
Enjoying my second marriage to a summer childhood friend, Wesley Johhston. We plan (planned) to move (back) to the O'Fallon area before the 20 year class reunion. Though we didn't make the move before OTHS' Class of 1984 reunion, I had a BLAST at the reunion. I would still love to hear from classmates. We found out on December 14th 2004, that I was pregnant and was due August 10th, 2005. This would be our first (most likely only) child, FINALLY!!! I didn't make it to August 10th. We decided that we would induce labor on July 31st. Our daughter, Louise Anna, was born 8/1/2005. She was 8 pounds 1 oz (on 8/1) and was 19 1/2" long. Fast forward to the future, Louise is now 2 1/2 years old (3/14/08).
College
After graduating, I took a two week trip to Zimbabwe Africa as a gift to myself. It was an awesome experience. The most impressive tour I took was of the school for...Expand for more
the Deaf. I sometimes regret not staying and learning more. However, I knew I had a new career to come home to. I worked at Missouri School for the Deaf for nine years. During those nine years I taught almost all grade levels and various subjects ,served as the IEP coordinator,job coach, as well as a cheerleading and track coach. I currently reside in Shreveport, LA with my husband. I was employed by The Betty and Leonard Phillips Deaf Action Center of Louisiana as the Director of Communication and Compliance for 2 1/2 years. However, following the birth of our daughter, I left the Deaf Action Center and entered back into the world of teaching. I am teaching 6-8 grade (all subjects) Deaf students in the Caddo Parish school system. Though we're not in the inner city, you'd think we were by the socio-economic level at the school. It is very interesting to say the least.
